The Arena side of Halo 5: Guardians is designed to appeal to those who love the more competitive side of the shooter series, but the development team at 343 Industries is still aiming to deliver lore details for all the maps that will be part of it.

On the Halo Waypoint site, the company states the Plaza environment is set on Andesia, a planet that was explored by a variety of biotechnology consortiums that are trying to use the ecosystem in order to create both exotic food products and life-extending drugs.

Noctus and Promesa are the two locations where medical research and other industries set up their production.

343 Industries adds, "Though it remained under UEG control, a powerful Insurrection presence took root in the early 26th century. Periodic UNSC police actions kept violence from breaking out into full-scale civil war, but turf wars between rebel factions, their criminal allies, corrupt security forces, and UEG peacekeepers ensured there would be no peace on Promesa's streets."

The team promises that it will offer a closer look at the Plaza map for the Arena mode in Halo 5: Guardians in a coming video.

Spartans are getting new abilities to use in multiplayer

The characters that gamers will be able to create and control in Halo 5: Guardians are designed to move around levels faster and to be more mobile than in any other previous installment.

Spartans can now sprint and use their newfound agility to dodge enemy attacks, and each will also be able to deploy a range of special powers.

343 Industries has tested all the core mechanics changes in a beta that allows the studio to get the data it needs to improve all these new mechanics before the title launches.

Arena will be the competitive mode of Halo 5: Guardians and Microsoft wants to make it a solid eSport in the coming years.

Other players will be more attracted to the Warzone experience, which is entirely created from scratch and will mix bigger maps, PvP and PvE battles and a new way to track player performance.

Halo 5: Guardians is being offered only on the Xbox One and will be available starting on October 27.
