The mode is designed to be fast and chaotic

Video game developer 343 Industries and publisher Activision are announcing that they are launching a new Warzone Turbo mode for Halo 5: Guardians, which is designed to only be active for the shooter over the current weekend, allowing players to experience a fast take on the classic experience.

The official announcement states, "Warzone Turbo is fiesta-esque mayhem on a gigantic scale, where you are instantly placed at Level 9 as soon as your Home Base is secure, and are imbued with near-instantaneous energy regeneration. Everything is fair game as players have access to their entire REQ inventory for the full duration of the match."

It seems that Warzone Turbo was initially designed as a test environment for the teams who worked on new ideas for the game, allowing them to see their effects without having to wait to level up or get more energy.

343 Industries then debated internally whether to release the mode to the entire player base of Halo 5: Guardians or not and then made some tweaks and added the extra polish required to make it a featured weekend playlist.

Presumably, Warzone Turbo will be added to the rotation of playlists for the game if it becomes a success with the community.

Halo 5: Guardians is preparing for Ghosts of Meridian

The new mode is an interesting diversion and shows how willing 343 Industries is to offer information about the development process for its big shooter and how the team is enjoying playing it.

The next major downloadable content pack for Halo 5: Guardians is called Ghosts of Meridian and is set to arrive during the first few days of the current month, introducing two new maps, Skirmish at Darkstar and Tyrant.

There's no new added mode in the DLC, but gamers can get access to a wide range of REQ cards, including Hannibal variants for both the Mantis and the Scorpion, as well as a new set of armor.

When the Ghosts of Meridian update is finally launched, 343 Industries will also offer a look at the tweaks to the core mechanics and other balancing changes.

The developers are committed to providing free content for Halo 5: Guardians for the first year of the shooter's life, and the big milestone that fans are waiting for is the arrival of the entirely new Warzone Firefight mode, which is currently set to add a Player versus Environment experience at some point during summer.
