Microsoft is working around the clock to finalize its first European store, and according to a new report, it is now expected to open its doors the next summer.

The Telegraph writes that the London store is now in the final preparatory stages, and the Microsoft Store will be located only a few meters away from the local Apple Store.

As we reported recently, Microsoft has already started hiring for the flagship store in London, and the company even plans to host a hiring event this month.

“Microsoft Store is the first and best place to experience all that’s possible with Microsoft. At the London flagship Microsoft Store we will create and cultivate meaningful connections with customers, one at a time,” Microsoft explained in job ads for the store.

Official opening likely in the summer

In a September 2017 announcement, Microsoft revealed that the store would be located on the Regent Street at Oxford Circus and be based on the same concept as the other stores in the United States and Canada.

“This will be so much more than just a great place to experience all that is possible with Microsoft, but a real hub for the community where we’ll be bringing to life our passion for helping people explore their creativity through an ambitious program of workshops and training along with moments that work to unite the community,” Microsoft UK head Cindy Rose said at that time.

In the meantime, Microsoft hasn’t provided too many details on this flagship store, other than what we can find right now in the available job openings.

Expect the company to share more details about the opening date in the coming months, especially as the company finalizes its plans and hires the necessary staff for the grand opening.
