14 DAY TRIAL // Mozilla launched the Firefox 62 web browser for desktop users on Windows, Linux, and Mac platforms, and it also updated the Firefox for Android mobile web browser with new features and improvements.
On the desktop, as we reported earlier this week, Firefox 62 revamps Firefox Home to display up to four rows of highlights, top sites, and Pocket stories, enables users to reopen a conternized tab in a different container, adds FreeBSD support for WebAuthn, and adds a new option in Preferences to distrust certificates issued by Symantec.
It also introduces support for CSS Shapes and CSS Variable Fonts (OpenType Font Variations), improves graphics rendering on web pages for Windows users that don't have accelerated hardware, adds Canadian English (en-CA) locale, and automatically enables the dark theme in macOS Mojave 10.14 with its new Dark Mode.
Here's what's new in Firefox 62 for Android
For Android users, Firefox 62 brings Quantum CSS improvements for faster loading of web pages over Wi-Fi connections when the disk cache is slow, by loading the pages from the network cache (if available), and improves the scrolling performance by treating touch event listeners as passive by default.
Moreover, Firefox 62 for Android adds a new "Product and feature tips" toggle in the Notifications settings that offers users more control over which notifications are displayed and which aren't, and re-enables WebRTC video sessions between the Firefox for Android and Safari web browsers.
Of course, this release also includes all the security and bug fixes that are available in the Firefox 62 release for Linux, Windows, and Mac platforms.
