Mozilla has just released Firefox browser version 59.0.3 in order to address a critical bug on Windows 10 April 2018 Update, whose rollout officially started on Monday.

While the new OS feature release is available as a manual download for the time being, either via the Media Creation Tool or with the standalone Windows 10 ISO images, Mozilla rushed to fix a bug on this particular version that was making it impossible to load certain websites.

According to reports, Firefox 59.0.2 and earlier returned an error when loading specific websites, including “invalid regular expression flag” and “fatal errors.”

Only Windows 10 April 2018 Update affected

While it wasn’t exactly clear why Firefox was returning this error, a post on Bugzilla provides a deeper insight into the bug, with users confirming that only Windows 10 April 2018 Update (version 1803) was affected. No earlier release of Windows 10 hit the bug, and Firefox stable, ESR, and Developer Edition are said to be impacted.

No other third-party browser suffers from a similar issue, so if you’re using Google Chrome or the default Microsoft Edge, errors when loading websites shouldn’t be caused by this bug.

You can download the latest version of Firefox for Windows, which also includes improvements for the April 2018 Update, from Softpedia using the link here. The new version is also pushed automatically to systems where Firefox is already installing with the built-in update system in the browser.

Windows 10 April 2018 Update itself comes with several improvements for Microsoft Edge browser, as Microsoft hopes to get closer to third-party alternatives and convince users to stick with the default option.

Right now, however, Google Chrome is the leading choice on the desktop with more than 60 percent market share, while Firefox is the runner-up with approximately 10 percent. Microsoft Edge is far behind with a little over 4 percent.
