Windows 10 April 2018 Update is now available for download, and in order to make it easier for users worldwide to upgrade their systems, Microsoft has also published new ISO images.

While you can manually download these new ISOs with the links at the bottom of the article, they are the same images that are being offered via the Update Assistant and the Media Creation Tool.

Windows 10 April 2018 Update ISOs allow for a clean-install without waiting for Microsoft to push the new OS feature release via Windows Update. The automatic rollout on Windows Update is due to begin on May 8, the same day when Microsoft ships this month’s Patch Tuesday security fixes.

The release, however, will take place in stages and only some systems will get the update as part of the first waves, with availability to expand as Microsoft fixes bugs and compatibility issues specific to certain configurations. The rollout typically takes approximately three months, so by mid-summer, all eligible systems should be able to install the update.

The ISO images are available in English for both 32-bit and 64-bit computers, and weigh in 3.2 GB and 4.4 GB, respectively.

ISOs also come in handy to system administrators where mass deployment is necessary, and is also recommended in the case of machines where a clean install is possible. In many cases, clean-installing Windows 10 ensures a smoother upgrade process that reduces the likelihood of bugs and upgrade blocks, while also helping prevent software compatibility issues that could block the transition to a new OS feature release.

Users who don’t want to go this way and upgrade their systems as part of a process requiring less work can wait for Microsoft to begin the automatic rollout next week.
