Following Fortnite’s outage, Epic Games decided that they should provide users with some freebies and an official apology.

Fortnite fans were not all that happy yesterday, April 12, because their favorite game was down for most of the day. A database crash caused the outage, and the fix implemented was not enough. This prompted Epic Games to perform up upgrade to the databases and servers, which took even longer.

Since Fortnite is one of the most played multiplayer games right now, you can imagine the frustration in the gaming community. On the other hand, Epic Games is a beloved studio, and most people gave them the benefit of the doubt.

Some freebees for players

Even if Epic Games didn’t really have to do anything besides apologizing to their fans, the studio decided that they should give them a present to smooth things over.

Battle Royale players will get this weekend a Back Bling gift, which can be picked up from the store for free, and Save the World players will a Troll Stash Llama.

Also, Epic Games is also saying that next week they will be “granting a pack of Battle Stars to our Battle Royale players and Seasonal Gold to the Save the World players. This will require brief additional downtime, so we will be including it as a part of our planned update next week.”

Furthermore, the studio also promised to offer more details about the massive outage that hit the servers and the databases, once they figure out exactly what happened.

In the meantime, Fortnite is now playable on all platforms, including PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, with the mention that issues affecting the PS4 version have been resolved as well.

Don’t forget that Epic offers details about any outage or scheduled downtimes on their official website.
