The most exciting Elite Dangerous update, Odyssey is scheduled to arrive in early 2021, but developer Frontier Developments has a solid roadmap for the current year. The most recent Elite Dangerous update has just dropped on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and brings new options for players who love to explore the galaxies.

The so-called Fleet Carriers update is available for free to all Elite Dangerous owners and brings exciting possibilities for all Commanders. Fleet Carriers is meant to offer players a new platform for deep-space exploration and long-range travel, equipped with every essential that players might ever need.

A more in-depth look at some of the update's highlights is available in the trailer that the fine folks at Frontier Developments have released today. Apparently, the Fleet Carriers update adds a wide range of on-board services, capabilities, and customization options, which makes it perfectly suitable for any playstyle.

With Fleet Carriers, players will be able to rearm, refuel, and repair while on the move. Also, these huge space vehicles can be upgraded with a range of services, from Universal Cartographics and outfitting to your own personal Redemption Officer. Having those extra amenities offers useful perks to Fleet Carriers owners, including the ability to earn extra when selling bonds, buying modules, and much more.

Not to mention that thanks to these mega-ships' 16 landing pads capacity, it's not much easier to organize an entire squadron of Commanders to explore the furthest reaches of space. Of course, Fleet Carriers' owners retain full landing clearance, having the last word about who has permission to come on-board, which means that they will get to decide if they want to give refuge to wanted criminals or protect their good name.

As mentioned earlier, those who already own Elite Dangerous can download the Fleet Carriers update for free on any of the compatible platforms, including PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
