It's unclear when the new microtransactions might arrive

A rumor is suggesting that gamers will soon be able to get access to ammo packs in Destiny by spending real world money on them if they are unwilling to play the shooter and grind to build up a solid reserve.

The information comes from a source familiar with the development of the title that has been talking to VG247 about the way the developers at Bungie are planning to handle the future of the experience.

The source is not saying when the ammo pack for real world money feature might be introduced to Destiny and similar rumors also made the rounds in 2015.

At the moment, gamers can pay 4.99 dollars or Euro to get access to 500 Silver in the title, and there are bigger packages with bonuses that offer up to 5,800 Silver for 49.99 dollars or Euro.

Microtransactions, like the ones that might be associated with ammo packs, have first been introduced to Destiny in the fall of last year, when Bungie announced that the community was able to use real world money to get access to Silver to pick up emotes from the Eververse Trading Company.

Since then special Sparrow items were added to the game, and it's highly probable that the same vendor will be used to handle all transactions that use gamer money.

Gamers can also pick up a special boost to get their Guardian to the level required to enjoy content associated with The Taken King expansion and ammo packs represent a logical next step for the company.

The team will probably justify the new microtransactions by saying that they are designed to offer options for those players who do not have the time to grind to get the in-game resources that open up access to ammo packs.

Destiny is soon launching Crimson Days

The coming event is designed to celebrate Valentine's Day and will be launched on February 9, with gamers able to get access to a new mode called Crimson Doubles, a 2 versus 2 experience with a range of new rewards.

Bungie has not said whether it is also planning to deliver special emotes or items for Guardians as part of Crimson Days, which will last for a full week.

According to the development team, they are already working on a new and bigger update that will arrive during spring for Destiny, which is said to offer as much new content as The Taken King, which might mean that a strike and a raid might also be featured.

The company is also working on improvements for matchmaking, with a focus on the reduction of latency, and they are also evaluating tweaks that could improve overall balance.

A new rumor is also suggesting that a Destiny 2 was supposed to arrive during September of this year, but the leaders of Bungie have decided to delay it and to deliver more free content for the first installment in the series this year, which might be a reason ammo packs are set to be offered for real world money as a way to create extra revenue.

UPDATE: Bungie says that it has no plans to sell ammo packs in Destiny for real world money.
