It will be used only for Player versus Player action

The Taken King expansion for Destiny is set to deliver more content than it has been introduced for the social shooter since launch and the development team at Bungie is ready to deliver more information on the unique elements of an all-new Vertigo map.

The environment has been designed to be used only in Player versus Player engagements and Game Informer quotes the studio as explaining that they have created three special areas where gamers should meet and do battle, each connected by tunnels.

The symmetrical layout of the new Vertigo for Destiny was apparently a little confusing for gamers and the studio solved the problem by making sure that sunlight can be seen from one half, while the other was illuminated by the artificial beams of the Cabal.

Bungie is not saying how many other new maps designed exclusively for Player versus Player action will be introduced in The Taken King.

The major new area will be the dreadnought that Oryx is using for travel, which has been specifically designed to look very different from the planets that gamers have already been exploring in the base game and the first two expansions.

The Taken King also makes big changes to core features

Gamers will no longer need to worry about light levels for their characters as progression will shift towards experience.

Bungie wants to offer players more unique pieces of equipment, which means some big balance changes for the raids and the other activities that a character can take part in.

Destiny is also getting a big 2.0 update just before the expansion is launched, which will tweak the balance for weaponry in order to change base stats and to make a wider variety of exotics interesting.

The big six man raid in The Taken King will have groups of six players facing Oryx, which Bungie claims is the most powerful boss it has ever created.

There are also changes made to the various currencies that are used, and the way factions will become more important than in previous incarnations of the shooter.

The Taken King for Destiny will be launched on the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One and older home consoles on September 15, with some specific content for those who play on a Sony device.
