Activision has not offered any details about it

The development team at Bungie might have delivered a pretty big free update for Destiny recently, but some enterprising gamers seem to have found clues that the studio and Activision are aiming to launch another paid expansion for the social shooter on September 20 of this year.

The news comes from a now-deleted Reddit post that details information found via a dead Ghost that is part of a new Prison of Elders arena, which unlocks a text that Eurogamer has managed to preserve.

The Latin original says, "Vegisima die mensis noni. ILLUD est venturus. Per Audacia Ad Astra", which translates to, "The twentieth day of the ninth month. IT is coming. Forward, to the stars."

Of course, this information might just be misdirection that Bungie has introduced via the April free update to send fans on a wild goose chase, but there's a chance that this is the actual date for the paid expansion, given that The Taken King was launched during the same period of last year.

Activision has confirmed that it is aiming to deliver a new big content drop for the social shooter before the end of the year, but it has so far offered no other details about it or the price associated with it.

Destiny's Sterling Treasure rewards are now fixed

At the moment, the focus at Bungie is on eliminating all the problems that the community has been flagging with the recent April update, the biggest of which was the fact that gamers were unable to access the rewards that they were entitled to.

Gamers can now access a new strike, a new series of story-driven missions, and a revamped take on the Prison of Elders mode, which is designed to introduce a wide array of new weapons and armor that gamers can use to boost their Guardian to the new maximum Light level.

In the coming months, the focus will probably turn to delivering some events that can actually capture the attention of the community and on offering more balance tweaks that will improve the overall experience.

Activision has been very satisfied with the performance of Destiny, which is why it is planning another big expansion for this year before it makes an official announcement about a sequel.

Bungie has been hinting it is already working on that project and that the game will be offered on both the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 at some point during 2017.
