Video game developer Blizzard is busy making sure that this second year of Destiny offers a lot of content for fans of the social shooter to experience, with the studio announcing that it plans to bring back the loved Iron Banner event on December 29.

The official Twitter account of the studio explains that gamers will be able to get into Player versus Player battles as soon as the currently running Sparrow Racing League ends.

The company also says that the new installment of the Iron Banner for Destiny will introduce a range of new rewards although no actual details are offered right now, and the company will probably only offer a full look at them during the coming weekly update.

Iron Banner might be the most competitive element of the shooter, with teams of players trying to dominate each other by using both their skill and by equipping the most powerful gear that they have to boost their Light level.

Bungie has been tweaking the mode for each new installment, and that means that some rule changes might be announced before December 29.

Until then gamers can continue to compete in the Sparrow Racing League on both Venus and Mars and the most dedicated fans can also take part in the coming Bungie Bounty experience, which will take place on the PlayStation 4 on Wednesday, December 16 between 6 and 8 PM Pacific Time.

The company is also running a special film festival competition for the mode that offers some cool rewards for those who post cool moments from their races using an appropriate soundtrack.

Destiny is offering Spark of Light packs via microtransactions

When the most recent major expansion for the social shooter, called The Taken King, launched, gamers received access to a Spark of Light, which allowed them to take one of their characters straight up to level 25 to experience the new content.

Now the development team at Bungie is selling an equivalent package for all the three core classes via the official store for Destiny, making it easy for players who lack the time but have the money to jump right into second-year content for the title.

The packages also includes some telemetries that allow players to also boost the power of their weapons.

The packages are a great way for newcomers to get their Guardians to a higher level without having to play through a big chunk of the shooter.

Their introduction represents a new expansion of real world money use about Destiny and might be a sign that more boosts linked to characters might be introduced shortly.

The most recent free update for the game, delivered earlier in December, introduced a new range of tweaks for all the major weapon types and also changed the balance of the Titan class.

According to Bungie, in January it plans to deliver another big patch for the social shooter that's designed to improve the experience and might deal with the Hunters and the Warlocks when it comes to balance.
