Video game developer Bungie is announcing that it is planning to launch its first ever special Valentine's Day event, called Crimson Days, on February 9 of this year and that it also plans to bring back the Iron Banner mode for Player versus Player focused gamers later during the month.

The studio makes it clear that it has no plans to deliver an official update for the social shooter during January and that the content delivery planned for next month will introduce a new 2 versus 2 Crucible Mode called Crimson Doubles.

The official Weekly Update announcement explains that "It features a special twist, born of new gameplay and mechanics that only battle-tested star-crossed lovers will appreciate. You’ll need a dancing partner – preferably one that compliments your fighting style. The two of you will have a chance to earn some 'sweet' loot together in the Crucible. To receive your gifts, you’ll have to put your differences aside and fight well as a couple."

Bungie is also suggesting that it will introduce a Bungie Bounty event when the new mode launches to give gamers a chance to battle teams made up of members of the development team.

It's unclear whether Crimson Days will also introduce other content to the game and whether there are special emotes or any Guardian gear that players will be able to acquire.

Apparently, the Valentine's Day event is equivalent in size to the Festival of the Lost that Bungie used to celebrate Halloween in 2015.

Iron Banner is also returning to Destiny

From January 26 at 10 AM Pacific Standard Time until February 2 at 12 AM PST, gamers will be able to take part in a version of the event which uses Rift, with a range of new rewards being introduced, including fusion and scout rifles, Titan, Warlock and Hunter armor and more.

Bungie is at the moment unwilling to offer any information about the kinds of mechanical tweaks that it plans to make in the February update, but more information about Crimson Doubles will be offered next week.

According to the studio, it is also planning to deliver a bigger update during the first few months of the year, which will contain about the same number of new game elements as The Taken King, the most recent paid expansion for the social shooter.

It's unclear whether Bungie is planning to deliver a new raid or will continue to tweak the gameplay elements of King's Fall.

New events like Crimson Days and the coming new content are developed by a new live team inside the company which is being funded by the money the company gets from the real money transactions that are associated with the Eververse Trading Company.

According to Activision, Destiny will also receive a paid expansion at some point later in the year.

Rumors are also talking about a sequel that's already being developed and will be launched before the end of the year on the PC, the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.
