Bungie announced today that due to the COVID-19 lockdown and the hurdles coming from this, it has decided to delay the launch of the next Destiny 2 expansion by a few weeks. As some of you probably know, Destiny 2: Beyond Light should have been released on September 22, but Bungie revealed that the expansion will now launch on November 10.

Beyond Light is the first chapter in a new trilogy of expansion, and, according to Bungie, one that will kick off a new era of Destiny 2. The developer promises “a powerful story” and “incredible new features” that both newcomers and veterans of the franchise will be excited for.

As the first chapter in a new trilogy of expansions, Beyond Light is the beginning of a new era of Destiny 2. We have a powerful story to tell and incredible new features that we're really excited for players to experience. As always, our goal is to make the coolest, most entertaining expansion we can possibly make for our fans. To that end, we are doing what’s best for the game and moving the launch date.”

Since the Season of Arrivals will now be extended to November 10, Bungie announced that it will unveil more what they're working on for Beyond Light and what it means for this season, over the coming weeks.

We sincerely want to be excited about the new chapter in the Destiny saga, especially that Bungie is using so many powerful words to describe Beyond Light, but based on the previous history, we'll just temper our expectations to an average level.

Still, we're anxious to find out why the upcoming expansion is expected to set “the stage for an incredible future in Destiny 2.” Hopefully, we'll be able to learn more about Beyond Light sooner rather than later.
