Japanese publisher and developer Bandai Namco has just revealed that an impressive milestone for its Dark Souls III smash hit. Since its release back in 2016, the game sold more than 10 million units worldwide on all available platforms, including PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Dark Souls III has fast become one of our most successful games to date. We can’t thank our players and fans enough for the trust they put in our game. Dark Souls community has been incredible since the release back in 2016, and it is amazing to see players still being involved and showcasing our game!” said Hervé Hoerdt, Senior Vice President Marketing, Digital, Content at Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe.

The Dark Souls series sales have already surpassed 27 million units worldwide, which makes it one of the most popular IPs in the gaming industry. Developed by From Software, Dark Souls III first made its debut in March 2016 in Japan and arrived in the rest of the world one month later.

Furthermore, Bandai Namco claims that even after 4 years since its release, Dark Souls III, as well as the other games in the series, continue to sell very well on all platforms. That wouldn't have been possible without From Software's expertise and high praise the game received from players and critics worldwide.

Although developer From Software said it wants to step away from the Dark Souls series for a while, it does plan to launch something similar in the future. Bandai Namco and From Software teamed up once again to work on another major project called Elden Ring.

Unfortunately, nothing is known about the action RPG that is supervised by George R.R. Martin, the American novelist who wrote the Game of Thrones series of books. Meanwhile, Bandai Namco announced yet another anime action RPG – Scarlet Nexus, which is expected to arrive later this year.
