The developers working on Dark Souls 3 at From Software and publisher Bandai Namco might be unwilling to officially talk about it, but it seems that there are plans to launch a Season Pass for the coming game, which will apparently cover at least two extra downloadable content packs that will expand the universe of the title.

According to a listing on the Australian Xbox Store, which has since been deleted but has been noticed by fans on Reddit, there are plans to introduce new maps for gamers to explore, more types of enemies for them to battle, extra bosses with unique abilities as well as additional weapons and armor sets to use.

The names of the two DLC packs for Dark Souls 3 and the release windows have not been revealed by the leak, but From Software and Bandai Namco will probably make an official announcement about them soon and will open up pre-orders for the extra content.

It seems that players who get the Digital Deluxe edition of the title will be able to secure access to all the extra post-launch content associated with the title.

Fans have speculated whether Dark Souls 3 will receive DLC ever since the game was first revealed, given how well the same type of new content did so well for the previous installment in the series.

The game is set to arrive in late March in Japan and on April 12 for Western gamers and can be played on the PC, the PlayStation 4 from Sony and the Xbox One from Microsoft.

Dark Souls is coming via backwards compatibility to the Xbox One

The same Australian Xbox store listing is also showing that gamers who place a digital pre-order for the third installment in the series will be able to get access to the first installment via the new backwards compatibility feature.

Those who are willing to pay before launch will have to wait about one week to get access to a code, and it's unknown whether the coming version is improved in any way for the new.

The backwards compatibility system means that gamers who have bought the first Dark Souls for the Xbox 360 will be able to get the game to run on their newer hardware, although Bandai Namco has not made an official announcement about when this will happen.

Dark Souls 3 is the final title in the franchise, designed to offer gamers a refined take on the mechanics that have powered it since the beginning, with a deep combat system and some complex environments to explore.

Hidetaka Miyazaki, the game director, says that many questions that fans have been collecting will be answered, but that he is also seeking to preserve the overall feeling of mystery that surrounds the world of the series.

Once Dark Souls 3 is launched, From Software will work to deliver the two DLC packages and then plans to explore some new ideas, although no details about them have been offered so far.
