Dark Souls 3 has recently received a full intro cinematic sequence from developer From Software and publisher Bandai Namco, despite the fact that it's about two months away from its launch date. Now fans have a chance to also learn more about the core gameplay mechanics and the way multiplayer will be implemented.

A Reddit thread covers information recently revealed by a printed Question and Answer session and reveals that the title will use a global server, which means that gamers can play with others from all over the world rather than be limited by regions.

At the same time, the matchmaking will be focused on character level and will not take into account the total amount of souls. The developers are saying that they are not placing any limits on cooperative play, with players separated only when the host, another player or the boss they are targeting dies.

Voice chat can be activated in the options of Dark Souls 3 for those who want to have more ways to cooperate with party members.

From Software also makes it clear that there are no plans to make the protagonist's appearance customizable, although it seems that the game will offer ways to reset stats and to then redistribute skill points for better performance.

Dark Souls 3 will complete the story of the series

The development team also states that warping between bonfires is always possible and that gamers will have up to three slots for both the right and the left sides of the character's body.

Enemies are also designed to keep respawning after bonfire rest periods even if the player uses this to farm them and improve their character's power, which some members of the community have been complaining about in both previous installments.

From Software also says that no limits are placed on magic use in Dark Souls 3 as the studio wants to give players a wide number of choices when it comes to taking out enemies.

The recent intro video for the game offered players some hints about the narrative, which is designed to answer plenty of questions about the world of the series, although Hideo Miyazaki, the leader of the team, says that he wants to keep an air of mystery.

His company has tested the network infrastructure and some core mechanics of Dark Souls 3 to ensure the best possible performance at launch.

The release date for the Japanese market is set for March 24 while Western gamers will have to wait for the title until April 12, with the experience playable on the Xbox One from Microsoft, the PlayStation 4 from Sony and the PC.

Until now, no concrete plans for downloadable content packs have been revealed, but given the success of the DLC delivered for Dark Souls 2, gamers should expect to get some interesting content post-launch.

At the same time, From Software is planning to use most of its resources to explore other new ideas, with no information about the kinds of games they might create offered yet.
