Gamers will not get the expected improvements to performance

Video game developer From Software and publisher Bandai Namco are announcing that they are planning to launch update 1.04 for Dark Souls 3 on April 18, delivering a range of new balance tweaks for all platforms.

Gamers will be a little unhappy to see that the long-awaited performance improvements for the video game are not being introduced this time around, with the two companies unwilling to talk about their plans for update delivery.

On the PlayStation 4, the 1.04 update for Dark Souls 3 will be offered on April 18 at 4 PM Central European Standard Time, with the same tweaks coming to the Xbox One between 14 and 17 CEST on the same day.

The PC version of the same patch will be introduced on April 18 at 11 AM CEST and will be labeled 1.03.1, although the company is not saying why it is using another designation that's unique for the platform.

The full list of patch notes releases by From Software can be seen by clicking on the button at the end of this article, and it's somewhat frustrating to see that the studio is mentioning other balance changes and bug fixes that it has not listed.

Dedicated fans of Dark Souls 3 want to know all the information associated with it, which means that they will have to rely on data mining and their own testing to see everything that is changed.

Dark Souls 3 still needs a performance upgrade

As soon as the video game launched in the West, which also marked its first appearance on the PC, a wide variety of players started to talk about crashes that affect most of the characters when they reach the first bonfire.

Since then the community has determined that setting the lighting options for Dark Souls 3 on low will solve this problem although other types of crashes are still reported on the PC and From Software has not said when it plans to introduce an update to eliminate them.

The game also needs updates to improve the overall performance on both the PC and on home consoles because the frame rate can often drop under 30 FPS for some regions.

We might not know exactly when Dark Souls 3 will run as it was supposed to, but the development team and publisher Namco Bandai have already said that the first piece of downloadable content for the game will be out during the fall.

More information about the new mechanics and the way the game creates tension can be found in the official Softpedia review of Dark Souls 3.
