14 DAY TRIAL // The Moto E3 and Moto E3 Power clearly don't position themselves near the high-tier range of Motorola's smartphones. However, that doesn't mean their hardware does not support Google's latest Android 7.0 Nougat operating system.
There are other cheaper and less powerful smartphones announced recently that ship with Android 7.0 Nougat right out of the box. Unfortunately, the Moto E3 and Moto E3 Power will remain at Android 6.0 Marshmallow until they are phased out.
Motorola has confirmed on its support website that neither of the two smartphones will receive Android 7.0 Nougat updates, TechDroider reports.
Unofficially, there might be some solutions for those who own the Moto E3 and Moto E3 Power, but for the general public who doesn't know how to tinker with their phones, Nougat will remain unreachable through official means.
We can think of just one reason that Motorola can't deliver Android 7.0 Nougat to both these devices, and that's the chipset inside them.
Both Moto E3 and Moto E3 Power are powered by 1GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735P processors, which might be a bit lower for Android 7.0 Nougat to run smoothly.
Considering that Motorola has a clean UI without any bloatware, it's quite unfortunate that these smartphones won't be upgraded to Android 7.0 Nougat.
Beside the rather low-end processor, the Moto E3 packs just 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory, whereas the Moto E3 Power packs 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.
Even though 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM might be too little for Android 7.0 Nougat, that's definitely not the case with 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM. The only valid reason for Motorola not to provide Nougat updates for these smartphones remains the MediaTek chipset inside.
If you own one of the two Motorola smartphones and absolutely must have Android 7.0 Nougat on your device, then you will have to switch to a newer handset.
