Long overdue movie will definitely be R-rated

Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con 2015 erupted into loud applause and a standing ovation when the first trailer for the upcoming “Deadpool” movie was screened, but the rest of the world will have to wait for at least 3 more weeks to see it.

The spinoff “Deadpool” movie is over a decade into the making, as Ryan Reynolds told the audience on the panel (second video below), and it wouldn’t have happened if someone from Comic-Con 2014 had not leaked screen test footage for it, back when it existed solely as an idea.

Some of that footage, which was entirely CGI, was included in the trailer shown over the weekend. It too has leaked online, and you can see it, at least for another while, in the first video below.

*Please be advised that both videos contain profane language that may offend, while the trailer also includes graphic images of violence.

Reynolds promised fans that “Deadpool” would be R-rated and thus please even the most skeptic of fans. He wasn’t lying: the version of the character shown at Comic-Con is hilarious, filthy-mouthed and very, very deadly.

The film is directed by Tim Miller, and also stars Gina Carano, Ed Skrein, and Morena Baccarin, and will be out in February 2016. If you’re one of the millions of fans who have been waiting for this movie to happen since before “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” you will be pleased with what 20th Century Fox is coming up with.
