14 DAY TRIAL // Just last month, model Chrissy Teigen opened up on her years-long fertility struggle, admitting on Tyra Banks’ new show, The FabLife, that she and husband John Legend would have already had a few children, had it been in their power to do so.
Today, Chrissy and John have announced their first pregnancy, in their usual adorable way, on social media.
Looking forward “to all the belly touching”
Chrissy posted a photo on Instagram to break the news to the fans, showing her lying on a couch, as John was touching her belly. Both are laughing.
“We've been trying to have a baby for a while now,” she wrote in the caption. “It hasn't been easy, but we kept trying because we can't wait to bring our first child into the world and grow our family. We're so excited that it's finally happening. Thank you for all your love and well wishes. I look forward to all the belly touching!”
John included a link to the Instagram post in his tweet that simply read “We’re pregnant!”
As Chrissy herself put it, the two have been trying for a baby for many years, as it’s always been their desire to have a large family.
Getting candid on fertility struggles
In September, both Chrissy and Tyra got candid on the topic of fertility struggles, as part of a larger discussion on why it’s not a good idea to ask women when they’re having kids or why they’re not more in a rush to have them.
Tyra even got so emotional that she cried as she admitted that she’d been trying for a baby for years, but hadn’t been able to conceive, even with IVF treatments. As if this personal struggle weren’t enough, she also had to deal with questions from people close to her and even strangers, who wanted to know why she wasn’t getting started on her family.
Chrissy agreed: never ask a woman about that, because you never know what she might be going through. She offered her and John’s example for that, saying that they’d been trying for a baby for 5 or 6 years already and had seen fertility doctors for help.
Today’s announcement confirms one of their biggest dreams just came true. Congratulations are in order!
