14 DAY TRIAL // Huawei launched the Honor 5X in China in early November, but the smartphone was not made available in other countries until this week.
A few weeks after the launch of Huawei Honor 5X in the Mainland, the Chinese company promised to enter the North American market very soon, but no specific dates were disclosed, and no smartphones were mentioned at that time.
Today, Huawei announced the Honor 5X would mark its entry on the US market. The affordable handset is now available for purchase via Amazon.com for just $200 outright.
Considering the phone's more than decent specs, that price makes the Huawei Honor 5X a great deal for Android fans.
First of all, the smartphone ships with Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box with Emotion UI on top of it.
The Honor 5X features a metal-clad body, so the premium feel is there even for such a low-priced smartphone. But the hardware doesn't disappoint either.
Snapdragon octa-core CPU and large 3,000 mAh battery
Huawei's affordable premium smartphone is powered by a 64-bit 1.5GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, coupled with an Adreno 405 graphics processing unit and 2GB of RAM.
Also, the smartphone packs 16GB of internal memory. Sadly, the lack of microSD card slot is a real problem for many Android users, so the Honor 5X might not be so popular as Huawei might have hoped. MicroSD card slot is included as well, so users can expand storage up to 128GB.
Furthermore, the Honor 5X has a 13-megapixel camera on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash, and video recording, but there's also a secondary 5-megapixel camera in the front.
Huawei Honor 5X comes with fingerprint scanner positioned below the rear-facing camera. Another strong point of the affordable Honor 5X is the large 5.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution.
Last but not least, the handset is powered by a 3,000 mAh battery, which is supposed to offer a few days of continuous usage.
