14 DAY TRIAL // Pokemon Go is currently available on Android and iOS exclusively (and this is one of the reasons Windows Phone users are angry with Niantic), and only in a few countries, such as the United States, Australia, and New Zealand.
So if, for some reason, you can’t actually play Pokemon Go right now (although we do know that, whatever this reason is, you can easily bypass it), you can always try the next best thing, and this is called City Elf Go.
As you can easily figure out by simply reading its name, City Elf Go is a Pokemon Go clone in all regards, but it is specifically aimed at Chinese users who can’t download Niantic’s game just yet.
Unfortunately for Windows Phone users, City Elf Go is only available on Android and iOS, just like the original game made by Niantic, and is published in Apple’s App Store and online as an APK for Android users - Google Play is not allowed in China, so users need to get the APK separately if they want to install the game.
In-game purchases and a lot more
City Elf Go is also using a mapping service to track your location and allow you to explore locations in order to find and fight a wide array of creatures. So it tries to reproduce the same idea that Niantic used for Pokemon Go - it’s actually quite difficult to understand how come Niantic agrees with it, but since it’s China we’re talking about, everything’s possible.
The only big difference is that the game is in Chinese, and it doesn’t use the phone’s camera for the augment reality features that you get in Pokemon Go, so the experience is a little bit more limited.
For the moment, City Elf Go is growing in popularity especially in China, but without an English version, it’s hard to believe that it could ever expand beyond the country’s boundaries. Pokemon Go continues to be this year’s sensation, and hopefully, more users will get the chance to play it very soon.
