A few days ago, Microsoft announced it released another Windows 10 Mobile Technical Preview build, which arrives into the wild as version 10149.

While Microsoft has been kind enough to highlight some of the changes that were included in this new build, like the tweaking of the Microsoft Edge, you should know that the company also embedded some subtle changes that are not yet ready for prime time.

One of the most requested features that users would love to see be made available in Windows 10 Mobile is call recording. Well, with build 10149, we get a sense that Microsoft is finally working towards implementing this feature.

As you probably know, for the time being, Windows Phone 8.1 does not allow users to record both sides of the conversation.

Call recording might finally be on its way

As noted by Windows Central, the latest build of Windows 10 Mobile, 10149, is showing a default folder called Recorded Calls inside the File Explorer app.

The new folder pops up alongside others such as Documents, Downloads, Music, Pictures, Ringtones, and Videos.

More than that, there’s a Voice Recorder app that offers permission to tap into the “Recorded calls” folder. So it appears that Microsoft is indeed looking to add this feature natively to Windows 10 Mobile. It would certainly be an ace for the operating system, don’t you think?

The current consensus is that Windows 10 Mobile will start rolling out in September. Around this time, we should start seeing handsets getting launched on the market with Windows 10 Mobile on board, and lots of people are actually quite excited about the prospect.

Going back to the latest Technical Preview Build, the release is not squeaky clean. Microsoft has already confirmed some issues and users might end up finding others.

For example, some Windows Insiders might be faced with an 80091007 error when trying to upgrade to this build from 10136. If you too get this error, then you should wait for a fix from Redmond.

On top of that, the Insider Hub has been removed in this build, but you should expect it to make a comeback in future iterations. Another known issue related to Gmail might pop up if an account is set up on the phone, as the Messaging app may have issues and both incoming and outgoing messages might not work.

These are just a few of the known problems at the moment, but the list is pretty long. Microsoft has a lot of bugs to squash before it can announce the advent of Windows 10 Mobile.
