14 DAY TRIAL // Activision has just launched the official Call of Duty: Modern Warfare story trailer, which reveals some of the locations players will fight through alongside iconic characters like Captain John Price. The campaign of the game is supposed to offer a gritty experience, as players engage in covert ops while they team up with various international special forces and freedom fighters.
Make no mistake, this is a high-stake game that will affect the global balance of power, so working within the grey area of the special forces' rules of engagement is mandatory in many cases throughout the campaign.
Just like some of the previous Call of Duty campaigns, Modern Warfare will offer a mix of close quarters, stealth missions, and long-range combat, where tactical decisions are crucial for a positive outcome.
On paper, the plot feels rather generic: in a desperate mission, Captain Price and the SAS team up with the CIA to retrieve stolen chemical weapons. You'll be fighting through various landscapes from London to the Middle East and other global locations, as the joint task force battle through betrayals, moral dilemmas, and no-win situations.
Apart from the release of the Modern Warfare story trailer, Activision revealed the XRK Weapons Pack, which will be offered for free to everyone who purchases Call of Duty: Modern Warfare digitally. The pack includes the XRK M4 assault rifle and XRK .357 handgun.
Meanwhile, Activision confirmed that the last two beta sessions for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare were the biggest in the history of the franchise as far as the number of concurrent players and number of hours spent goes. The announcement doesn't come as a surprise considering it was the first Call of Duty beta that included crossplay support, allowing PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC gamers to play together.
The new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be released worldwide for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on October 25.
