Same rumors say that it will include a Battle Royale

The Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will not have a single-player campaign. At least this is what the rumors are, and sources in the gaming industry seem to confirm that.

A Call of Duty game without any kind of single-player campaign would mark the end of an era and the beginning of another. The second part of that statement might be short-lived because the gaming community is not happy about that, and they’ve reacted badly to the news.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is made by Treyarch Games, and the people at that studio managed to turn the tides with their releases. Let’s not forget that titles with the Call of Duty tag build by Treyarch were usually released just to fill the gaps between the major launches in the same franchise. How times have changed.

Dropping the single-player

Multiple rumors surfaced regarding Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s lack of a single-player campaign, from Polygon and Charlie Intel, and they are most likely right. The studio figured out that that they won’t be able to finish up the campaign in time for an October release, and stopped production on that part of the game back in early 2018.

In turn, Activision and Treyarch are trying to switch gears and get a piece of the money pie that’s Battle Royale. The same rumors are saying that a Battle Royale mode has been implemented instead, trying to capitalize on the popularity of this game mode used in both Playerunknown's Battlegrounds and Fortnite.

What’s even funnier (or sad, you decide) is that a remastered version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 should also arrive by the end of the year, and reports say that it won’t have multiplayer. Which just now makes sense, at least from Activision’s perspective.

It remains to be seen if the community loves Call of Duty so much to let this one slide. Who knows? Maybe the Battle Royale and Zombie modes will be so popular and good that it’s going to be worth it.
