Activision has confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is indeed being developed by Treyarch, and the company says that it will reveal more details during the upcoming E3 2018 conference.

Numerous rumors about the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 (or IIII as they like to underline to the dismay of the Roman empire) from Treyarch have been floating around for some time now, and there was no point for Activision to continue to pretend that they don’t know anything about it.

In an announcement that surprised no one, Activision revealed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is indeed scheduled for an October launch, but chose not to share anything relevant about it, with the exception of a small teaser.

Forget what you know

The Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 devs say that we need to forget everything about what we know, but that’s not really helpful. In any case, it’s supposed to happen in the near future, but that’s all we have to go on until E3 2018, on May 17, when more details will be made available.

The game will launch on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, but there is no word on a Nintendo Switch version, at least not yet. As for any of the other rumors, none have been confirmed.

Long gone are the days when the Treyarch edition of Call of Duty was just a placeholder for the main franchise. The developers managed to become a front-line studio for Activision, and all of their recent games have been major successes.

We can only hope that the upcoming title will manage to revive the multiplayer part. Let’s not forget that we owe the overflow of multiplayer games today to Call of Duty and all its cousins. To be fair, most people buy the game for the multiplayer and not the single player, but the campaign was always interesting.

The game is to be released on October 12, for the aforementioned platforms, which is a little bit sooner than usual.
