Video game developer Treyarch and publisher Activision are announcing that a new major patch is now live for the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One versions of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, introducing a wide array of tweaks that are designed to eliminate bugs and to improve the overall shooter experience.

The official site delivers a clear breakdown of the changes, with most of them focused on the zombie and the multiplayer modes of the title that draw most fans of the series.

Gamers should see improved matchmaking in Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 and there are modifications made to specialists like Firebreak, Reaper, Nomad and Outrider.

When it comes to maps, the development team has made changes to Nuketown, Fringe and Exodus, and the game is also getting access to a rebalancing effort for a large number of weapons included in the shooter.

A full list of all the changes the development team has made can be seen by clicking on the button at the end of this article; be warned, it's a very long read.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 has already received two big patches on the PC, and gamers who play it on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 will have to download a package that's bigger than 600 MB.

Treyarch and Activision are saying that the player community should continue to offer feedback about the various game modes so that the team can continue to improve the shooter in the coming months.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will get a range of downloadable content in 2016

Gamers who have picked up the shooter are also able to buy a Season Pass, which guarantees access to all the coming DLC packs delivered for it.

As it is traditional for the series, they will include both new maps and extra modes, but Treyarch has not said whether it plans to also introduce new stories for the zombie mode.

Gamers should expect to get the first piece of DLC for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 in either February of March of 2016, but some free content might be added to celebrate Thanksgiving or Christmas.

For the first time in the history of the franchise, gamers who have bought the shooter for the PlayStation 4 will be able to access all the new content for one full month before it is also offered on the Xbox One and the PC.

The Sony platform will even be used for the eSports events that will feature Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.

Treyarch and Activision have announced that the shooter is the biggest entertainment launch of the year at the moment and that it has generated no less than 550 million dollars (480 million Euro) in sales during its launch day.

Gamers have been satisfied with the quality of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, especially the new movement system for characters, which is probably a positive effect of the new three-year development cycle for the franchise.
