The free season pass includes three DLC packs

Bungie has just announced it's making the Forsaken Annual Pass free for all owners of the Destiny 2: Forsaken base game. Naturally, the announcement pissed a lot of players who bought the Annual Pass last year, as they won't be getting anything in return. If you're one of the people who paid $30 or $35 for the Forsaken season pass, don't forget that you received one year of updates and new content for the money.

If you haven't bought Destiny 2: Forsaken yet, you'll be pleased to know that the Annual Pass is now included with all future purchases of the game. However, if you don't plan to buy it, some of the content included in the bundle will not be available in the free-to-play version Destiny 2: New Light.

Destiny 2: New Light will include some Forsaken and Forsaken Annual Pass content such as free roam on all destinations, Strikes playlists, Crucible playlists, Gambit and Gambit Prime playlists. But it will NOT include the Forsaken story campaign, Year 2 raids and dungeons, as well as exotic quests.

To access ALL the content included in the Forsaken bundle, you'll have to purchase it separately, but going forward, you won't have to pay anything for the Annual Pass since it's now included in the package.

Bungie has a few versions of Destiny 2 coming up next month such as Shadowkeep and New Light. Besides the fact that the game will move to Steam from Battle.net, the next expansion in the series, Shadowkeep will release for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 1. Destiny 2: New Light is free-to-play, but it doesn't offer all content, such as parts of Destiny 2: Forsaken.

Even so, the idea of having some content available for free is likely to convince more players to purchase Shadowkeep rather than not having anything to show.
