14 DAY TRIAL // We reported earlier today that BlackBerry Priv might go on pre-order on October 23. The smartphone is likely to go on sale globally, but it won't hit shelves until November.
The good news is BlackBerry has just listed the Priv on its webstore, so now we know how much it will cost and when it will be available.
First of all, even though the smartphone shows as being available for pre-order, it's not. If you try to put it in the basket, you will get a message saying that BlackBerry Priv is not in stock yet.
Secondly, we get more details on the phone's specs. For example, the 5.4-inch dual-curved screen will support Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution and 540 DPI.
The 3,410 mAh battery inside is rated for up to 22.5 hours of continuous usage. BlackBerry also mentions that the usage time is “based on mixed usage scenario. Many factors affect battery life, including network connectivity, application usage, feature configuration and battery age. Actual results may vary.”
Hopefully, carriers will offer the Priv for much less than BlackBerry's retail price
BlackBerry Priv measures 147 (184 opened) x 77.2 x 9.4 mm and weighs no less than 192 grams (battery included). The 18-megapixel rear-facing camera features OIS (optical image stabilization), phase detect autofocus, and 4K video recording.
The Canadian company also confirmed that BlackBerry Priv would be fully compatible with the following network bands: FD-LTE 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 12, 17, 20, 29,30; HSPA+ 1, 2, 4, 5/6, 8; Quad band GSM/GPRS/EDGE.
BlackBerry Priv will not be compatible with Verizon, Sprint and US Cellular bands, the Canadian company confirms.
Also, the smartphone will be available for purchase in the US for no less than $750 outright, while customers in Canada will have to come up with $950 CAD upfront to get the Priv.
Last but not least, customers who pre-order the Priv via BlackBerry's webstore should know their devices will be shipped starting November 16.
