The development team working on Fallout 4 at Bethesda says that it is aiming to build on the surprising popularity of the workshops and settlement management with the coming Wasteland Workshop downloadable content pack, giving gamers more ways to improve the world around them.

Todd Howard, the director of the game, tells IGN that his team was actually surprised by the way players have used the new systems and the company wants to make sure that they have the tools to create whatever they need in the settlements.

Wasteland Workshop will allow gamers to capture creatures that they find in the wasteland and then bring them back to their base of operations and even stage battles between them.

The new tools for workshops and settlements in Fallout 4 will make it easier for players to create the kind of buildings they want and to then decorate them in a wide variety of ways.

Bethesda has also suggested that it intends to add a set of tweaks to these features for players who do not pick up the DLC, mainly making it easier to deal with resources and with settlers.

Wasteland Workshop should be out on the PC, the Xbox One, and the PlayStation 4 before the end of April, and the team is planning to add some other packages by then too.

Far Harbor is adding more story to Fallout 4

Todd Howard also says that gamers who love story will be happy with the coming adventure that will take them to a new island on the coast that can be explored with help from android detective Nick Valentine.

The director adds, "In this first run, Far Harbor is the largest. But, we kind of priced that based on what we've done before so you can look at Far Harbor and say 'Well, even though the land mass is bigger, it doesn't have as much content as Shivering Isles - which was $30 - but it has more than Dawnguard, which was $20.'"

According to Howard, he is happy with the way the community has received the DLC announcement linked to Fallout 4.

Bethesda initially launched a Season Pass designed to cover these first three packs, but the company then explained that it had some more ideas that it wanted to explore and that another batch of new content would be revealed later in the year, presumably adding both new mechanics and new areas.
