Great news for iOS users who are relying on BBM for their day-to-day communication, as BlackBerry has just released a new update that is now available for download.

The latest update for BBM for iOS has the same changes included in the Android and BlackBerry apps that were released in the last couple of days.

But if you're an iOS user who doesn't follow Android and BlackBerry news, here is a quick recap of what the new update brings regarding improvements and new features.

BBM for iOS version 293.0.0.20 is all about BBM Protected improvements, so if you've been using this feature often, then you will be pleased to know there are quite a few enhancements included in the update.

High priority messages and team chats are now part of BBM Protected

First of all, BlackBerry confirmed that BBM users would now be able to send high priority messages within a chat. If you didn't know by now, BBM Protected users could tag important BBM Protected Messages within a conversation as High Priority messages, so that they won't be missed.

These High Priority messages are marked in red text to highlight their importance, thus allowing users to identify that the message contains an action item that requires attention.

Also, BlackBerry added team chat, which enables users to set a chat subject, and invite team members. By assigning a subject to the Team Chat session, team members will be able to keep track of what's important much easier.

Last not least, the BBM team announced that multi-person chats now show Delivered and Read notifications. This particular enhancement to multi-person chats helps enhance secure communications.

If you don't have the application yet, you can now download BBM for iOS for free via App Store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices running iOS 7.0 or newer.
