Asus announced the ZenFone 3 Zoom during this year’s edition of the Consumer Electronics Show, but the phone has yet to be released in the US. However, it seems that Asus has provided the ZenFone 3 Zoom with a new name for Asian markets.

ZenFone Zoom S’ specs leaked recently, pointing towards a display size smaller than that of the ZenFone 3 Zoom, but the phone’s product page has just gone live and reveals that the two devices have the same specs.

This means that the ZenFone Zoom S is actually a renamed ZenFone 3 Zoom for Asian markets, since the product is only visible on the Thai version of Asus’s official site. The ZenFone Zoom S could be made available in markets like Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia. Moreover, the two devices appear to have the same code name, namely ZE553KL.

Dual-camera setup and 5,000mAh battery with reverse charging

With a display size of 5.5 inches and a 76.5% screen-to-body ratio, the phone looks the same as the ZenFone 3 Zoom. It has an AMOLED screen with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution and comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on top.

Inside, it runs an octa-core Snapdragon 625 chipset clocked at 2.0GHz, coupled with Adreno 506 graphics processing unit and 4GB of RAM. Internal storage comes in many options, namely 32GB, 64GB or 128GB, and users can add 2TB using a microSD card. The dual-camera setup on the back features two 12MP Sony IMX362 sensors with f/1.7 aperture and SuperPixel technology, which provides 2.5 times higher light sensitivity compared to iPhone 7 Plus, according to Asus.

The phone is also capable of 4k recording and has a 13MP Sony IMX214 sensor in the front. Battery capacity on the device reaches 5,000mAh with reverse charging, which means that other devices can be charged from the phone. ZenFone Zoom S runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Asus ZenUI 3.0 on top.
