Customers in India looking for a decent mid-range smartphone who weren't compelled to grab the Zenfone 2 Laser when it went on sale back in September might check out the new handset launched by Asus.

The improved version of Zenfone 2 Laser is now available for purchase in India for only Rs 13,999, which is about $210 or €195.

According to a new report, the smartphone is exclusively available at Flipkart, but you won't need to register for a future flash sale.

Unlike the other version of Asus Zenfone 2 Laser, this one comes with a better processor and more RAM. Aside from that, customers should expect the same specs as those featured by previous Zenfone 2 Laser models with the exception of the display.

Some Zenfone 2 Laser models come with 6-inch displays, but this one sports a smaller 5.5-inch capacitive touchscreen screen that supports HD (720p) resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass 4 coating for extra protection.

Improved specs but higher price

The phone is equipped with 64-bit 1.5GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, coupled with an Adreno 405 graphics processing unit and 3GB of RAM.

Also, the Zenfone 2 Laser 5.5 comes with 16GB of storage inside, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 128GB).

The smartphone ships with Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system right out of the box, but considering its specs, we can expect Asus to offer a Marshmallow update in the coming months.

Connectivity-wise, the Zenfone 2 Laser 5.5 boasts a wide range of options, including dual-SIM, Wi-Fi, 4G LTE, microUSB 2.0 and GPS with AGPS support.

On the back, there's a decent enough 13-megapixel photo snapper with BSI sensor, dual-tone LED flash, laser autofocus and video recording, while on the front, there's a secondary 5-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.

Asus Zenfone 2 Laser 5.5 is powered by a high-capacity 3,000 mAh battery, which hasn't been rated by the manufacturer yet.
