14 DAY TRIAL // Asus officially introduced the Zenfone 2 Laser in India on August 19 and promised to make it available for purchase on September 19.
The Zenfone 2 Laser was until recently available for pre-order exclusively via Flipkart for prices starting at Rs 9,799 ($145 / €130) outright.
The smartphone is available in multiple versions. For example, the 5-inch model that packs 8GB of storage is the cheapest at Rs 9,799 ($145 / €130) while the 16GB variant costs Rs 9,999 ($150 / €135).
On the other hand, the 5.5-inch version of Zenfone 2 Laser can be had for the same Rs 9,999 ($150 / €135), which is odd enough, as the smartphone packs 16GB internal memory.
The improved version of Zenfone 2 Laser with 5.5-inch display is available for purchase for Rs 13,999 ($210 / €190) but features Snapdragon 615 CPU and 3GB of RAM.
The amount of Zenfone 2 Laser variants can get you confused
As mentioned earlier, the smartphone should have been put on sale on September 19, but since its launch back in August, there have been 30,000 Zenfone 2 Laser 5.5 units pre-ordered.
Apparently, this is the reason that made Asus launch the smartphone 11 days earlier than it was originally confirmed.
The Zenfone 2 Laser 5.5's display supports HD (720p) resolution, but as mentioned earlier, the smartphone is powered by either a 64-bit quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 CPU or an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor.
It comes preloaded with Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system right out of the box and features Corning Gorilla Glass 4 coating.
The smartphone offers both 4G LTE and dual-SIM support, but also packs a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and a secondary 5-megapixel camera in the front.
