14 DAY TRIAL // The Zenfone family is one of the most popular lineups of smartphones launched by Asus, which should convince the company to provide important software updates as often as possible.
Unfortunately, not many Zenfone handsets have been upgraded to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The Zenfone Zoom and Zenfone 2 Laser are definitely not among those smartphones to receive such an important upgrade, but few are.
The good news is Asus continues to support these smartphones with new features and improvements, and one example could be the latest updates that have just been released for Zenfone Zoom and Zenfone 2 Laser.
Since there are various models available on the market, Asus confirmed the updates are available for Zenfone Zoom ZX551ML and Zenfone 2 Laser ZE601KL. Other models might or might not get these updates.
The OTA (over the air) updates are deployed in stages, but as mentioned earlier, they do not contain Android 6.0 Marshmallow new features and improvements.
Dozens of changes have been implemented via both updates
So, the Zenfone Zoom will be getting software version 2.26.40.72(MR3.2), which brings “changes and fixes.” There are no less than 30 improvements included in the changelog, so we will only mention the most important ones.
Asus has added Dr. Booster Smart and free game speed booster for faster performance on the Zenfone Zoom. Also, some camera improvements have been implemented too, like faster autofocus speed, better auto white balance, as well as optimized image quality.
The update should also increase headset detect de-bounce time to improve music auto play when you plug out the headset slowly. Asus states that it has fixed incorrect charging status after cable out, as well as the issue resulted from previous power-on via shutter key.
The Zenfone 2 Laser has fewer changes (15), but still too many to list here. However, it’s worth mentioning the improvement of the Asus Cell Broadcast overall stability and the addition of ZenChoice, an all-in-one application solutions platform to enhance the phone’s functionality.
