Facebook, eBay, Oracle and Intel are at the bottom

Even though you might have at least an approximation of the scale of Apple's annual revenue, Statista's latest report on the subject of how big the iPhone business is might put things into perspective.

Statista's infographics shows that the only total revenue for a single company that barely comes close to matching Apple's huge $31.4 billion (€28.09 billion) iPhone revenue is Hewlett Packard's $25.3 billion (€22.63 billion).

On the third and fourth spot, we can find Amazon with $23.2 billion (€20.75 billion) and Microsoft with $22.2 billion (€19.87 billion), followed by IBM, Google, Intel, Oracle, eBay and Facebook with a "meager" $4 billion (€3.58 billion).

On the whole, the total revenues of Intel, Oracle, eBay and Facebook combined match Apple's iPhone revenue almost point for point.

Apple's iPhone business is their closest ally, but it can also become their biggest future enemy

What does this say about Apple's business? First of all, it's quite easy to downplay their role on the market although they're in the top three companies in every sector they're an active player.

Furthermore, in spite of their iPhone business being the giant behemoth that it is, accounting for the most of Apple's total revenue can only be bad news in the case of a less successful new iPhone model.

The iPhone revenue has constantly climbed since the original launch, gaining around 10% each year to reach 69% of the total revenue last year during the holidays.

The 6 and 6 Plus models are the driving force behind the iPhone business

This happened right after the release of the iPhone 6 model with a 4.7 inch screen and the enormous 5.5 inch 6 Plus, Apple's first models with screens capable of matching those found in smartphones made by their competitors.

Releasing the 6 and 6 Plus iPhone was the spark behind Apple's next two record breaking quarters and the thing they needed to slow their rivals down.

This being said, tonight's keynote will be the one that will keep iPhone sales soaring as it usually happens each time Apple unveils new iPhone model.
