Apple once again updated the App Store support page with information regarding the adoption status of the latest iOS 12 mobile operating system among iPhone, iPad, and iPod users.

Yesterday, Apple kicked off its annual WWDC (Worldwide Developer Conference) event, and they already bragged with their high adoption levels for the latest iOS release compared to the competition. Tim Cook reported a huge 85 percent adoption for iOS 12, compared to 10 percent adoption for Android 9 Pie.

According to the updated App Store support statistics page, iOS 12 is now used on 87 percent of all supported iPhone, iPad, and iPod devices introduced in the last four years, and runs on 85 percent of all supported iPhone, iPad, and iPod devices, while only 9 percent of devices are still using iOS 11.

The data was measured by the App Store on May 30th, 2019, and shows a minor growth in iOS 12's adoption since the last update earlier this year on February 26th. In January 2019, iOS 12 was running on 75 percent of all devices, and at the end of February it was running on 80 percent of all devices.

iOS 13 is coming this fall

While Apple continues to work on minor bugfix releases for the iOS 12 operating system series, the next in the line being iOS 12.4, the Cupertino, California-based company unveiled the new features and enhancements of its upcoming iOS 13 mobile OS for iPhone and iPod devices.

iOS 13 introduces numerous exciting features, such as a long-anticipated Dark Mode, powerful video editing, redesigned photo editing, an all-new maps experience, a new Siri voice, audio sharing and messages announcements on AirPods, as well as more privacy and security features.

iOS 13 also promises to be even faster than iOS 12 by making apps launch twice as faster, as well as to be smaller in download size, boost Face ID unlocks to up to 30 percent faster, and make app updates up to 60 percent smaller. But there are many more things for you to discover in iOS 13 this fall.

Until then, we recommend keeping your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices up-to-date with the latest iOS 12 release (version 12.3.1 at the moment of writing). iOS 12.4 should be available as well at the end of the month, so make sure you install it as soon as it's out.
