After releasing the Beta 3 versions of its upcoming iOS 11, tvOS 11, and macOS 10.13 High Sierra operating systems on Monday, Apple today also released the third Beta of the watchOS 4 operating system for Apple Watch devices.

We were wondering when Apple will decide to bring the watchOS 4 Beta builds on par with the tvOS 11, iOS 11, and macOS High Sierra 10.13 ones, and that day is today. Registered developers with an active Apple Developer subscription can download the watchOS 4 Beta 3 image from their accounts and install it on their registered Apple Watch devices.

Tagged with build number 15R5321h, the watchOS 4 Beta 3 milestone consists of a bunch of improvements and bug fixes that Apple's watchOS development team managed to implemented since the previous Beta 2 release, which Cupertino launched three weeks ago, on June 21, 2017. However, the internal release notes cannot be accessed at the moment of writing so we can't tell you what's new.

watchOS 4 promises to bring older Apple Watch devices to life

As its version number suggests, watchOS 4 is a major update for the Apple Watch operating system, and it promises to bring older devices to life by implementing a set of new features that include animated Toy Story watch faces, a dedicated Siri watch face, enhanced fitness capabilities, as well as the ability to connect to various gym equipment that will be supported by a new Gymkit platform.

Until then, Apple Watch application developers are invited to access their Apple Developer accounts and enabled the watchOS 4 Beta 3 update so that they can receive it on their registered Apple Watch devices via the built-in OTA update system. In related news, Apple quietly updated the service policy's coverage period to three (3) years instead of two (2) for damaged first-gen Apple Watch devices.
