14 DAY TRIAL // Apple announced today during its live keynote speech at the WWDC 2019 developer conference event the tvOS 13 operating system for Apple TV devices, an important update that adds exciting new features and enhancements to enrich your TV experience.
tvOS 13 is coming with the all-new TV app that was introduced by Apple with the tvOS 12.3 software update, a redesigned new Home screen, support for multiple users, support for the upcoming Apple Arcade game subscription service, new underwater 4K HDR screen savers, and support for Xbox One S and PlayStation DualShock 4 game controllers.
"tvOS powers the Apple TV 4K experience and continues to set the standard for home entertainment," said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s vice president of Product Marketing. "With more personalized features to enjoy your favorite TV shows, movies, photos and music, expanded gaming support and stunning new screen savers, tvOS 13 delivers the most complete entertainment experience to everyone in the home."
Supported devices and availability
Also new in tvOS 13, the Apple Music app will now take advantage of the new multi-user support to let family members play their favorite and personalized playlists. Last but not least, tvOS 13 will support the upcoming Apple TV+ video streaming service featuring Apple’s original content in the all-new Apple TV app, which will also be available on the iPhone, iPad, and, for the first time, on the Mac with macOS 10.15 Catalina.
tvOS 13 will be supported on both the Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD (3rd generation) devices. It will be available as a free update for all users this fall, along with iOS 13, macOS 10.15 Catalina, iPadOS 13, and watchOS 6. The first beta release is now available for testing via the Apple Developer portal only for Apple TV 4K devices, and will be seeded to public beta testing in July.
