Windows 10 Mobile is not limited to smartphones, and that's been proven by the latest tablet announced by Alcatel, the OneTouch Pixi 3.

Pipo, another company specialized in Windows devices, has just launched a new Windows 10 Mobile tablet. The slate is called Pipo U8T, and it's one of the first to come with a non-Qualcomm chipset inside.

Pipo U8T comes equipped with a Rockchip RK3288W chipset that packs a quad-core ARM Cortex-A17 processor clocked at 1.8GHz, along with a quad-core Mali-T760 graphics processing unit clocked at 600MHz.

The tablet packs 1GB of RAM and either 16GB or 32GB of internal memory, but this is just the basic model. Pipo's slate can be packed with up to 4GB RAM, but that depends on what the OEM that orders the tablet wants.

A much better version will be launched in the US at Best Buy

For example, Best Buy is testing the U8T with its own branding, and this particular model includes 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal memory, and a retina-like display.

The U8T sports an 8-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 1024 x 768 pixel resolution, but it can be ordered in various sizes (6- to 9-inches).

As WMPU mentions, Pipo U8T comes with HDMI-out port, but it's unclear whether or not it will feature support for Continuum for phones.

Although the tablet does not seem to include mobile broadband, the manufacturer might be able to add 4G LTE modules if the need arises.

Pipo U8T is likely to make its debut on the market in the coming months, but there's no word on availability and price yet.

The good news is that Microsoft in now opening its mobile platform to low-cost chipsets like Rockchip and MediaTek, so we expect more of these cheap Windows 10 Mobile devices to be announced in the future.
