The update is now being pushed globally over the air (OTA)

Huawei fans rejoice, as the Chinese company has just kicked off the rollout of Android 7.0 Nougat for Honor 8 globally. However, since this is an incremental update, it might take a while until it reaches all units.

Although previous rumors pointed to a February release for the Honor 8 Nougat update, the company decided to hurry and launch it slightly earlier. Unfortunately, for many Honor 8 owners, the ETA of the Android 7.0 Nougat will remain February.

Huawei Japan announced last week that it would start seeding the Nougat update to Honor 8 units in the country on January 16. But we didn't think that the handset maker would continue with the rollout in other countries as well.

New reports coming from Honor 8 owners located in countries other than Japan have started to hit the Internet. Unlike the Japanese update that's been confirmed to weigh in at around 1.97GB, the global build seems to be slightly bigger: 2.27GB.

Unfortunately, it's hard to tell how many Android 7.0 Nougat builds Huawei plans to release for Honor 8, but it looks like it's in the 2GB area, so make sure you have enough storage before attempting to upgrade.

It's also worth mentioning that the update is pushed OTA (over the air), so you should be notified when it's available for download. Obviously, you can also manually check for it, if you're anxious to upgrade.

Some of the changes included in the update, which have already been confirmed by Huawei, include stability improvements, system optimizations, as well as better app versatility.

Along with Android 7.0 Nougat, Huawei also included the new EMUI 5.0, but also the December security patch that is supposed to address some of the security exploits found during the month of November.

We're expecting the update to propagate to more countries over the coming weeks, so if it hasn't yet shown on your phone, then you should wait and hope to get it soon.
