Verizon has just confirmed it has started to push the long-awaited Android 7.0 Nougat update to all Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge devices registered with its network.

Big Red is the last major carrier in the United States to release the Nougat update for Samsung's current flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. If you run any of these two devices, then you should start looking for an update with software version NRD90M.G930VVRU4BQA2.

According to Verizon, those who wish to download the update should make sure their phones are connected to a Wi-Fi network, or that they have a strong Verizon network connection. Also, you should ensure that your battery is fully charged before starting the software update.

Verizon also published a changelog that contains some of the most important new features and improvements the Android 7.0 Nougat update brings to the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge.

For example, a new battery management page will be added, which should provide users with an easier way to maximize their battery charge. It's easy to access and features customizable presets for Medium power saving mode or Maximum power saving mode.

A new Power Monitor application detects inactive apps still using the battery, and puts them to sleep, hence extending the battery charge.

After updating to Android 7.0 Nougat, Galaxy S7/S7 edge users will be able to take advantage of the multitasking feature much more easily, as the new OS adds support for split screen, side by side viewing of any two apps.

Furthermore, the update adds a new Effects preview screen, so users will be able to see what their captured photos look like before saving them in the Gallery. A new keyboard engine will update language data, so you can expect better predictions.

It's also worth mentioning that the “go90” application will be removed upon updating to Android 7.0 Nougat.
