You will need to download a few third-party applications

Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update for Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge leaked a few weeks before the official release, so we knew most of the new stuff it brings.

However, when Samsung finally released the update last week, some of these features were missing from the build or were nowhere to be seen.

One of the most anticipated new features that should have been included in Android 5.1.1 Lollipop for Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge was support for raw DNG format, which would allow users to take state-of-the-art pictures with their phones' cameras.

On top of that, Samsung should have also added lower ISO values, among other camera improvements. Well, these features aren't available from within Samsung's camera application, but that doesn't mean they aren't present.

But in order to enable all those camera improvements that Samsung added without letting anyone know, you will need to install some third-party apps from Google Play Store.

The camera improvements included in the update haven't been enabled by Samsung

The first application that you need to download and install is called Manual Camera Compatibility Test, which will allow you to check whether the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update indeed added the Camera2 API to your smartphone.

If you get a positive answer, then you will have to download yet another third-party application from Google Play store, which is called Manual Camera.

This is just one of the many apps that enable raw DNG support in Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge, so if you don't like Manual Camera, you can download any other of these apps.

Anyway, once you install this third-party app on your smartphone, you should try and enable the Camera2 API option from the menu.

Once that is enabled, you will finally be able to take advantage of all the goodies that Samsung has added in Android 5.1.1 Lollipop for Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge, but for some reason refused to make it available yet.
