UPDATE: Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is now available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One via PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store.

After making its debut on PC back in August, publisher Private Division and developer Panache Digital announced Patrice Desilets' Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey will be launched on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on December 6. For those interested, the game is already available for pre-order for $40 / €40, but we'd suggest reading our Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey review first.

Created by Patrice Desilets, the mastermind behind the Assassin's Creed series, Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is a third-person survival game set in Neogene Africa, where players take their clan on an evolutionary journey in the hopes to survive.

The game will allow players to explore several different biomes, each featuring new predators that must be avoided, but also full of secrets waiting to be discovered. The journey will take players through expansive plains, boggy swamps, and dense woodlands, and much more.

Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is set ten million years ago and starts in the rich, harsh jungle where players begin their adventure as a young hominid attempting to reunite with their clans. With predators at every turn, players must carefully guide their hominid through environmental threats such as cliffs, and potential poisonous food.

Once players locate their tribe, the next objective will be to understand the dense world around them and evolve. The only way to do that is to hone the hominid's ability to advance through a system known as the neuronal network, which offers multiple role-playing like elements that enhance a wide range of senses such as hearing, sight, communication, and advance motor skills.

It will be up to each player to decide what skills to advance first. For example, they can choose to increase the ability to identify dangers from a greater distance or maybe increase mobility skills such as walking upright.

Besides exploring the world and evolving their hominid, players must expand their reach to the world if they are to survive. If you're considering buying Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey ask yourself if you can survive as our ancestors did.
