Take a gander at the human evolution as an early hominid

Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is the first title from Panache Digital Games, the studio co-founded four years ago by Patrice Desilets, the original creative director behind Assassin’s Creed. Although it sounds like Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is a very different game, Assassin’s Creed fans will most likely recognize some of the parkour moves that made the French series so popular among gamers.

In Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey, players relive the early stages of human evolution millions of years ago, as they try to survive a harsh and brutal world to ensure the future of their lineage. You'll be playing an early hominid from ten million years ago, swinging through the trees of a lush jungle full of dangerous predators.

I am extremely proud of what my team and I have accomplished with Ancestors. I wanted to make a game about evolution that would help remind of us of our shared primal instincts. Once I thought of this concept, I could not shake this idea of struggling, trying to survive in this massive, dangerous world. Today is a great day because we can now share this game with the real world. It may be a difficult journey but hopefully you can survive just as our own ancestors did,” said Patrice Desilets, Co-Founder and Creative Director of Panache Digital Games.

In order to ensure the survival of your clan, you'll have to learn, adapt and evolve by carefully analyzing and discovering the environment. How your hominid is going to advance its neuronal network is entirely up to you, which adds a layer of role-playing game elements that further improve different abilities.

For example, you can choose to advance motor functions rather than heighten their senses, or enhances their intelligence instead of unlocking better communication amongst the tribe, it's all up to the players how they want to evolve their ancestors.

Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is available now digitally for PC from the Epic Games Store for €40/$40. The game will release for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in December 2019.
