This may be the more affordable LCD iPhone

We’re only a few days away from the moment Apple will take the wraps off its new-generation iPhones and leaks keep coming, some of them unveiling the devices in all their glory.

This is the case of a new purported leak that claims to show the more affordable LCD iPhone launching this year in three different colors, namely white, blue, and red.

While there’s a chance these photos published on SlashLeaks are actually fake, we still expect this particular iPhone model to come in a variety of colors, including blue and red.

Rumors that made the rounds earlier this year suggested that Apple was considering several versions, including yellow and green, for the LCD iPhone. It’s not known what colors Apple eventually picked for this model, however.

iPhone 5c-like colors

The Cupertino-based tech giant is expected to embrace an approach similar to the one it used for the iPhone 5c, which was the last model coming with such a wide variety of colors. Most likely, the company is using this strategy in order to make a bigger difference between this iPhone version and the more premium siblings.

The LCD iPhone will come with a 6.1-inch screen and despite it being supposed to be more affordable, the difference versus the other models in the lineup isn’t so huge.

Recent reports have indicated that the device could cost $699 for the base model, while the iPhone Xs, which is presumably the successor to the iPhone X, could start at approximately $800. This means the more affordable configuration would be cheaper by only $100, which raises questions as to why people could buy it given the features it’s expected to lack.

For example, as part of its cost-saving plan, Apple dropped dual cameras for a single-lens unit and replaced the glass back with aluminum, like on the iPhone 7. This model could hit the shelves one month after its premium brothers.
