A few days ago, Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus made a surprising announcement, revealing that the OnePlus 2 launch date was set for July 27. Excitingly, the OnePlus 2 will be the first smartphone to be launched in VR, something that will allow fans to stand right next to the OnePlus developing team.

Shortly after the launching date was disclosed, a bunch of new images showcasing the handset have leaked online showing us both the front and back of the upcoming flagship.

The first image looks more like a sketch (it has actually been filtrated) but details a few design changes we should expect. For example, the phone will come with a metal frame plus an increased number of holes in the speaker grilles.

Take a look at what seems to be the OnePlus 2

The second leak coming out of Phone Arena actually brings two purported live images of the device. The one showing the front of the handset reveals a panel that is pretty similar to what the OnePlus One had to offer, while the back reveals a wooden-like finish. We can also spot a vertical bar on the rear panel, which is probably used to house a fingerprint sensor. But this is only speculation at this point.

If you haven’t been following news related to the OnePlus Two launch, we’re taking the opportunity to remind you that the phone is expected to arrive with a 5.5-inch to 5.7-inch display and an octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor under the hood.

We should point out that we’re talking about the v2.1 version of the chipset, a revised version of the system-on-chip that has been plagued by overheating issues ever since its inception.

Furthermore, the startup has already confirmed that the OnePlus 2 will take advantage of the new USB Type-C technology that’s already present in Apple’s new Retina Macbook, Google’s Chromebook Pixel 2, and LeTV’s new smartphones.

We already showed you the OnePlus 2’s USB Type-C cable a few days ago, which is apparently available in bright red.

While some of the details about the OnePlus 2 have been made available, we still have no information related to the flagship’s resolution or camera capability. Hopefully, we’ll know more in the near future.
