Windows Phone fans probably know that Alcatel plans to launch its first Windows 10 Mobile handset in the United States, the OneTouch Fierce XL.

The smartphone leaked for the first time a few months ago when a picture of the OneTouch Fierce XL and some of its specs were posted online.

Now WindowsCentral reports that Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL will be launched by T-Mobile in early 2016.

An exact release date is still unknown at the moment, but it's almost certain the smartphone will be showcased at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2016 trade fair.

Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL is an entry-level Windows Phone, which is why it's expected to be priced below the $100 mark.

Even so, Alcatel's smartphone will be a decent competitor for other Lumia phones that will probably be upgraded to Windows 10 Mobile next year.

It might be the only affordable Windows 10 Mobile handset in the US

The good news for Alcatel is that for a short time, OneTouch Fierce XL will be the only affordable Windows 10 Mobile available in the US since Lumia 550 hasn't been officially introduced in the country.

Moving on to specs, Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL has been confirmed by the rumor mill to pack a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory that can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD card slot.

Also, the smartphone sports a large 5.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution. At the back, the OneTouch Fierce XL packs an 8-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and video recording.

There's also a secondary 2-megapixel camera in the front for selfies and video calls. The phone will be powered by a non-removable 2,500 mAh battery and will offer Wi-Fi Calling 2.0 and VoLTE support.

Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL will be available in cyan only, but the bezel of the smartphone, as seen in the picture, will be black.
