A flagship that should be announced in the coming weeks

Alcatel is one of the few companies that have launched a Windows 10 Mobile handset this year. The OneTouch Fierce XL is already available for purchase in the United States at T-Mobile, but it’s unclear whether or not the company will release it in other countries as well.

However, we do know that Alcatel plans to launch yet another Windows 10 Mobile handset aimed at the top-tier segment, the Idol 4 Pro. Some of you might have heard that Alcatel introduced the Idol 4S Android smartphone last month at Mobile World Congress.

The Idol 4 Pro comes with similar specs (with a few exceptions), but a completely different operating system. Alcatel Idol 4 Pro is the second Windows 10 Mobile handset released by the company this year.

News about the upcoming release of Alcatel Idol 4 Pro with Windows 10 Mobile onboard emerged several weeks ago, but at that time, sources claimed the smartphone would be unveiled at MWC 2016 trade.

Since that didn’t happen, we’re still expecting Alcatel to announce the smartphone. Today, leakster @evleaks has published the first press render of the Alcatel Idol 4 Pro, though no information about release and price comes in tow.

The good news is @evleaks implies the smartphone will include the same specs as the Alcatel Idol 4S, an Android device launched last month.

Quad HD display and Continuum for Phones support

If that proves to be accurate, then Alcatel Idol 4 Pro should boast a stunning 5.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution.

Still, instead of the Snapdragon 650 chipset that’s included in the Alcatel Idol 4S, the upcoming Windows 10 Mobile handset will pack a more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor inside, NPU reports.

The rest of the phone’s features should include 3GB RAM, 32GB internal memory, 16-megapixel rear-facing and 8-megapixel front-facing cameras, 3,000 mAh battery and microSD card slot (up to 128GB).

We’re also expecting Alcatel Idol 4 Pro to come with Continuum for Phones support, as previously rumored. There’s no telling where exactly the smartphone will be launched, but here is hoping for a worldwide rollout.
